As an artist I want to be able to make the viewer feel what I feel or think what I think, in that one moment when they are viewing my work. My portfolio illustrates parts of my life and leaves the viewer with an impression of who I am as an artist. What I desire for my artwork is that each piece is unique and can stand individually.
I am currently engrossed in the art of photography. I love the process of developing photographs and being able to alter the photographs by controlling the light throughout the process. I prefer to set up photographs, with models, and let natural emotions be the driving force behind them.
I’ve learned this from Annie Leibovitz. I admire that she is able to set up staged photographs that tell a story. Her photographs also often have intense feelings associated with them, although they are staged. I aspire to be like Annie Leibovitz, in that, I hope to control what goes on in the photograph without losing the natural emotions that make the picture. The general purpose of art is to express oneself, and without natural emotion, art would become expressionless.
